Deck I am working on, Grievous unleashed

The basic point of this deck is to use General Grievous (E) (GG(E)) RaW #16, to the utmost power!

Grievous unleashed.

This is General Grievous (E), he has 3 main powers, 1, to pay 0 force and untap, this has a limit, you can only do it 1 time for each equipment attached to him, he has 2 limits on equipment, first, only 2 per a turn can be attached, and second a max of 4 total*

The * makes the world of difference, if you have more then 4 equipment cards attached to a different version then, when you move E to the top, you don't have to remove them, letting you get more free untaps.

The next card is the card the will let this unit control the game, Weapon Turret (WT), BoH #90.

With this equipment, you have the power to attack units in any arena using 3 power + any other effects, in combo with GG(E) this will let you attack with 3+ power, and then untap and do it again, the draw back for this card is high equip cost, 2 build.

This is when our next friend comes in Imperial Munitions Specialist, (IMS) BoH #29.

This little beast, is very powerful, for each on in your hand, you may pay 2 force, and search your deck for any equipment, letting you get out any spare SL, WT, SM. as it lets you equip without paying the cost, for the first turn after it is deployed, making WT free, along with any other 0 build equipment, which brings me to my next point GG(E) even with WT will only be able to attack with 3 power, times X, X being how many equipment you have on him, the next boost Stolen Lightsaber (SL), RaW # 118.

With this beast, you pay 0 build, and if IMS was played that turn 0 force, you get a 1+ health, and with it on GG(E) you get +1 power, you will be able to attack with +1 power so 3x of it, + 1 WT will allow 6 power attacks to any arena 5 times a turn, for a cost with IMS of 0 build, 0 force.

And lastly that little * again, another combo would be to use Sith Markings (SM) (IoN #51), to move GG(E) from the bottom to the top of the stack, after having more then 4 equipment on the stack.

With this, For a cost of only 6 build for General Grievous (B), and 3 more for each of the other 3 GG in the stack, 4 more for IMS, and 1 for Sith Markings, for a total of 14 build, and only 3 force.

You will get a card that can attack ground and space with 10 power, or Character with 13 power, and upwards of 7 times a turn, (4x Stolen Lightsabers, 1x WT, 1x Sith Markings.) And if you need to save some force, then don't use the Sith markings, and do 1 mega attack to one of our opponents units with an equipment on it, gaining it for the bounty, so the next turn with GG(E) you would get another attack.

Six years ago, in 2003, Wizards of the Coast (WOTC) released their sixth expansion for the Star Wars Trading Card Game (SWTCG) based on The Empire Strikes Back. Six years down the track the Independent Development Committee (IDC) is releasing its sixth expansion for the SWTCG based on the very same film that WOTC’s sixth expansion was based from.

This bizarre occurrence of the number six continues still. WOTC’s sixth expansion introduced us to the sixth card type in the SWTCG, Locations and the IDC’s sixth expansion contains sixty cards.

So with the sixth expansion from both WOTC and the IDC being based on the film that is the fan favourite out of all six of the Star Wars films being produced six years apart from each other and with the IDC’s sixth expansion containing sixty cards this sets us up for something special.

And we also have a new card of the week

This is the most interesting card put out, as it will let you attack one arena from another, letting your power horse cards like Luke (L), attack space or ground units with 3 power + any other effects, so if you have 3 other unique Character, then Luke (L) will be able to attack any space or ground unit with 9 dice. (3 base + 2+ power x3=9)

Just think of cards that have overload+overkill, this card can be a big help to controlling all arenas with 1 super card, Krayt Dragon might make a comeback as it could destroy all the starfighters to untap.

(This is a Contest going on, it is on rebelbasers and I thought some of you might want to do it)

Some of you may be familiar with the previous prediction contests run by Sobejjj, DOC_NASTY, RedneckJedi and most recently Darth Joker and myself. They have always provided a place where fans of the SWTCG can predict competitively what card names will be in the set. With the release of the Invasion of Naboo (ION) expansion, by the Independent Development Committee (IDC), just around the corner it has now come time for the next instalment of this contest.

The Invasion of Naboo Prediction Contest is going to be supported with a prize for the Rebelbasers.com member who correctly guesses the most names of cards in the ION expansion. So without further ado, I give you the IDC's ION Prediction Contest!!

Invasion of Naboo Prediction Contest Rules

This contest will end on:

Each Rebelbasers.com member is only allowed one entry.
IDC Members and those with access to a list of ION cards cannot participate in this contest. If they do they are breaking the rules of IDC and it's Charter (as well as spoiling this contest).
For an entry to be valid it must contain a list of 25 names (no more, no less). These names are your predictions of the names (and versions) of cards in the ION expansion.
You can't post an entry that is an identical list to another valid entry.
You can only submit one entry.
Your entry can't contain any spoilers that had been released before the time you posted your entry. If it does I will PM you and you can change your list by replacing the Spoiled card name with another of your choosing.
It will be at my (IVIaceWindu) discretion if you have posted a spoiled name or not.
You can modify your entry at any time within the first 24 hours of it's submission. Any modification of your entry after this 24 hour period will void your entry and automatically disqualify you from the contest, unless I have given you permission to change and/or modify your entry.
The Rebelbasers.com member/s who correctly guess the most names of cards in the ION expansion, from a submitted and valid entry, will receive a prize.

ION Prediction Contest Spelling Rules for Valid Entries

The card title must be exactly the same as the card name. (Example: If you predict Qui-Gon Jinn (X), and it's simply Qui-Gon Jinn or expanded to Ambassador Qui-Gon Jinn (X), it does not count as a correct prediction.)
There are no "spelling penalties" for special characters, provided the letter equivalence is obvious. (Example: e = é, a = â and á, etc.)
There are no "spelling penalties" for punctuation marks. They will be ignored if they're in the actual card name, and/or as a pick in the prediction contest. This includes apostrophes, commas, periods, exclamation points, etc.
Based on the Revenge of the Sith predictions, a "spelling penalty" will be incurred when using a "0" (zero) in place of an "O" (oh) and vice-versa.
Your predictions containing proper nouns require capitalization. If you predict millennium falcon (M) but the card is actually Millennium Falcon (M), your guess will be incorrect. However, for non-proper nouns, you will not be penalized. For example; if you predict the name Give In to your Anger and the actual card is Give in to Your Anger, you will still have a correct prediction. I will be the final judge in this matter and my ruling will be final.

Which Faction Do You Choose?

Tensions are high among the organizations of the Republic. The Naboo, a normally peaceful people, have an uneasy truce with the aquatic inhabitants of their planet: the Gungans. The once-good diplomats of the Galactic Senate are being corrupted and toyed with by a mysterious puppet-master. These tensions could resolve themselves in time - if it weren't for a sudden and unexpected move by the Trade Federation: invasion!

The lines have been drawn for the five factions of the invasion. The lithe Naboo plan for guerrilla warfare. The Dream Card contest follows a similar format to two of the best DCC's Rebelbasers.com has hosted; Cyber's DCC and the DCCR. The USWDCC will have a new theme each week to inspire participants to make their best dream cards.

When the IDC developed this set, it is clear that they turned off many, if not all, of the safeties in card development. Where as most ideas I have had are the same as what the IDC has implemented in this set, there are many other ideas active in this set that I think are a bad idea.First, and foremost, is an apparent move towards the Yu-Gi-Oh philosophy of no holds barred. While much of the set retains a good sturdy semblance of decorum, several cards show a total disregard towards safety. As I pointed out in another post, the Gunships of old are no longer playable because the safeties were turned off on two of the new Gunships, one which shouldn't have even been a Gunship. Next, I understand how the last two major limited subtypes the IDC worked on (Wookiees and Ewoks) didn't fare so well, but with Gladiators, it seems a little heavy. First and foremost is the inclusion of Double Strike. Multiple Attacks are Going to Kill the MetaDouble Strike is a HUGE ability. This ability not only doubles your unit's power, but it allows you to apply its power to two different units. Every card you have put this on, seems to have completely disregarded the cost/value ratio (though there's only 2 units I'm concerned with at the moment). It's like you take a card like Droid Tri-Fighter and just tack on Double Strike without consideration of the ability's 1 stat point cost, or the fact that it doubles the power and flexibility of that power. So Droid Tri-Fighter would now be 5 build, 50 speed, 8 power, 4 health, Critical Hit 1, and split the damage between two units. When instead, the use of Double Strike should look like this if added to Droid Tri-Fighter: 5 build, 50 speed, 2 power, 4 health, Critical Hit 1, Double Strike, or: 5 build, 50 speed, 3 power, 3 health, Critical Hit 1, Double Strike. I could deal with how it was applied to the Starfighter and to Mace Windu's Lightsaber, but now we have a Gunship and 1 all too scary Gladiator with it. Let's look at the Gladiator in a Gladiator theme deck:Flalios: 6 build, 30 speed, 5 power, 5 health, Critical Hit 2, Fury 2, Double Strike, Parry 1, When the roll for build points is made, remove 2 damage from one of your Gladiators (Likely Flalios).So every time Flalios strikes, he strikes with up to 14 power and Critical Hit 2 x2 for a total possible damage of 18 and an almost guaranteed damage of 11, all for just 6 build. Double Strike doubles the effectiveness of every Equipment, Mission, Location, and Battle card that grants an ability except Accuracy. Yes, he's slow, yes, he's a target, but with an intercepting unit in the arena and the remove 2 damage ability, you'll be using him for a while. This guy is a tank buster. Heck, he's a bunker buster. He can destroy even the most fortified Jedi in a single round. Apply Enraged Charge to him and his attack now looks like: 30 power and Critical Hit 8 x2. That's a total potential damage of 46 between 2 units for 6 build and 2 Force! That's an average damage of 15.5 for each of the two units! (And will pretty much always get a hit unless fate is conspiring against you.) Add to this the fact that power has a greater benefit to the DS than to LS. General Grievous (E). Just for having 4 Equipment, he has 30 power that he can split between 5 different units, and it doesn't cost him a thing! Yes he's a target, but since when can DS not defend a Character? Now, let's add 4 very cheap E-11 Carbines: 13 build, 40 speed, 70 power, 6 health. Thats 14 power against each unit he attacks. If the unit he's attacking has no armor, shields, or prevention, that's an average of 7 damage per unit, 5 times a round, all for just 13 build. Once again add to it that power has a greater benefit to the DS than the LS.More Bad CardsNow, I think you all were meaning to test the bounds of these cards with my advice to "try to break it and see what happens". Sorry, but that advice applied only to Equipment, because you were having a hard time finding its boundaries. Double Strike is not that hard to know what it's boundaries are. It's doubling your unit's power and making its attacks flexible. As for the rest, I'm not sure what boundaries you were trying to test.Now much of the stuff that people say is overpowered I defend, because those cards help bring back old units and even units that have never been used. But there are still more units in this set that are far too powerful. jury is out on Darth Sidious (J). I think it's a tad on the noobish sode, but we'll see if it makes DS units too powerful. Derelict Battleground gives way too much boost to Separatists. I might have held my tongue at +3 power, but +4 is definitely overboard.Starfighter Modifications. You all were doing so good with Equipment and making it compete well with pilots, boosting pilots. I was commending it. Instead of completely smashing this card with its massive bonuses, I think you should have worked towards making the existing vehicle packages less expensive. Besides that, this card is dangerous and gives too much boost to an already inflated LS Space arena. Tyranus's Fury. Again, this card is 1 step too far. I would have held my words had it done 3 damage instead of 4, or else cost 6 Force instead of 4. In fact, its existence makes Force Lightning obsolete, which I don't like, because that's a good card. Artillery Cannon is far too powerful. It was designed after Planetary Ion Cannon, but it goes beyond it. Again, power is more effective for DS, so there was no reason to go beyond it. A Call for a Public Embargo There are some really great cards in this set. But I think you have produced the exact reverse of what all previous sets have done. The cards that suck are the ones that are too powerful. A mistake I've always found to be made by noobs, not experienced card designers. Thankfully, most of the cards are good.Regardless of whether the IDC bans them or not, here is a list of cards I recommend get ignored (That is, that they should not be used, simply on principle, based on damage to the meta and to past cards):

We'll see how Mace Windu's Lightsaber (A) turns out.Still a Good SetNow, just because I recommend a public embargo on those cards, doesn't mean the rest of the set is somehow noobish mistakes as well. Their not. In fact, there are a lot of masterful ideas in this set that I look forward to testing out. But these cards are going to dominate the meta and some make older cards forever obsolete that shouldn't be made obsolete.

Farewell to the Old Gunships FOREVER (IDC RAW)

Alright, there are two cards which I think defeated the goal of trying to revive older cards: The Assault Gunship (AG) pretty much supplants the Republic Attack Gunship (RAG), which I was hoping to be able to play again. Not that I don't like AG, but it would have been nice to WANT to to play RAG. This card defeats the purpose of Republic Command Gunship (RCG), which was clearly originally meant to make the older Gunships playable again, but with AG, who would want to? Republic Gunship Squadron (RGS) is WAYYY undercosted. Nice to have, but pretty much dominating for its cost. Once again, it defeats the reason for the RCG, and RCG just ends up compounding the effectiveness of RGS. Who would want to play Republic LAAT/i Gunship when you have RGS? If this didn't have the Gunship subtype, it might not have been so bad (or is that good? See, now you have me confused).I like these cards, but because of them, I'll never be able to play any of the older Gunships ever again without playing a draft game.At least I still have my Walkers. Oh, wait, those are supplanted by these gunships, too! At least THAT doesn't have to be permanent if we're given some better synergy for them in the future. I was really looking forward to being able to play the old Gunships and Walkers, but now it doesn't look like I'll have that privilege without sacrificing better cards or playing in the rare draft. For being the most exciting set for me, due to this issue, it's now the most disappointing for having raised my hopes and dashed them.

So I have been sick and busy (mainly busy), for the last 2 months and so here are 2 new preview cards for the Battle of Naboo (BofN) set. (Thanks to Mannof for making the card image's)

First we have Anakin's N-1 Starfighter the starfighter that destroyed the Droid Control Ship, that the Trade Federation used on Naboo, he saved the entire Gungan grand army, and the world of naboo.

Now we come to the Droid Control Ship this card shows the might of the Trade Federation, it will be a key in new Trade federation decks and gives a big bonus for your droid's

For 1000 years their has been peace in the Republic but it is on the edge of WAR the Trade Federation has set up a blockade of the planet Naboo and the Sith are emerging from their long absents, the Chancellor has sent two Jedi to help make peace but hope is small. Revenge of the Sith - Part 1 - Confrontation at Utapau, Scenario decks by OWJ

"OK, so here it is...I did my best matching images from the movies. Where an image didn't match the movie, the character or unit does. Overall, there's no mistake it has a Utapau feel to it.

Obi and Grevious will be able to battle in the character and ground arenas (piloting boga and the Wheelbike respectively). I used Syncronized Systems for the dark side as all of their characters are droids. So it was a good fit. Grievous will be able to acquire equipment from defeated characters. There are 8 equipment cards also. Grievous will pick up the equipment laying around."

Two years ago, we decided to put future releases of the Star Wars® trading card game on indefinite hold, effective with the previously planned August 2005 release of the Rise of the Empire expansion. Despite our best efforts to stimulate gameplay, player demand had not maintained a level that permitted us to produce new releases. Additionally current player demand has not been at levels that allow us to reissue the game. This is why you've not seen us announce anything new regarding the future of SW:TCG. We really appreciate that you guys love the game, and we encourage you to continue to enjoy it. We will continue to further evaluate customer interest and revisit the release of new expansions if a resurgence of demand occurs.

My next question:

I realize this may be beyond what you know or what you're allowed to tell me, but I was curious as to what would qualify as sufficient player demand. The remaining community, as well as myself, would be very interested to see the game revived... or at least to see some renewed support from your company in any form. If we had an idea of roughly how many players or what quantity of goods would need to be consumed to garner some attention, we would do all in our power to make it happen.
I would appreciate any information you can supply about what sorts of numbers your company is looking for. As I mentioned before, I understand this may be beyond the scope of what you can provide me, but as a fan of the game I have to ask if there's any chance that we could help its return.

Unfortunately you are correct in that there really aren't any exact numbers that we in Game Support can provide. We have no special insight into such things. But I'm sure that the company will be taking into consideration not only fan feedback, but distributor demand as well, which would increase because of retailer demand, which would increase because of consumer demand. I assume there can be many other factors behind the scenes that we in Game Support are not privy to as well. I will certainly pass your feedback along to the appropriate departments, letting them know of your interest in seeing the game reprinted.

Like I said, that may be old news for many of you, but I found it encouraging that they claim to still be looking at the demand. I don't know any shops who might have previously bought cards from WotC, but if I did, I'd have them check if WotC will even sell the current sets any more or if they're officially done. That would be more of a test than what their customer service says.

If WotC will respond to demand, then the best chance for this game is to get the public interest back. I know that most of us have a small circle of friends that play, but if we can get the local card shops to start hosting even little tournaments again and generate some fresh interest... then it might be possible to bring it back.

Of course, I'm probably sounding somewhat like a crazed zealot right about now, but I thought that some, if not all of you, would be interested to hear their official position on the matter.
